"It's been only two weeks since it was announced that my family won the Ferguson Extreme Kitchen Contest, but so much has already happened!

Terry Kromka, one of the Ferguson kitchen designers, measured the space on the day of the announcement and--just two days later--presented a complete proposal! In addition to reconfiguring the appliance layout to make the kitchen more efficient, he added lots of cabinet and counter space---something the current kitchen sorely lacked. Terry was masterful in blending cabinets, countertops, appliances, lighting and flooring to bring our kitchen into the 21st century while maintaining the style and feeling of our 1916 house. The designers did such a fabulous job that I changed only one thing--the sink!

The Ferguson team has already removed the nasty old cabinets and fixtures and now are busy moving pipes & wires and prepping the walls. The Carpet Shop folks tore out several layers of old flooring and have laid the sub-floor for the beautiful tile that will be installed later this week.

It's really amazing to see the renovation move so quickly and smoothly.

Ferguson Staff: Week 2 Blog

"We are half way through week two and so far we have learned that despite Anne's small size, she sure can throw a sledge hammer. This week has been spent mostly tearing out the old cabinets, and we gave Anne the honors of destroying the first cabinet door. She was grateful to be able to take out her frustrations on her old cabinets. The rest of the week will be spent tearing out the floor, filling in the window over the existing sink and preparing the room for paint. By the end of the week two we should have a clean slate to start the new kitchen."
